Jesse Allen has been fortunate to work as an assistant engineer to Grammy Award nominated Producer and Engineer John Weston at Futura Productions.

The largest world class recording facility in New England, Futura Productions boasts an impressive live room with dimensions of 60 feet by 38 feet with a 22 foot arched ceiling. The immense control room houses one of the nation’s largest Pro Tools HD systems, including a large format Digidesign Pro Control mixing surface with automation and recall for all session parameters, a vast array of vintage analog and modern digital outboard gear, boutique vintage and modern transparent mic preamps, impressive microphone collection, mastering quality monitoring for stereo and 5.1 applications, full suite of professional DSP plug-ins, and a 100 inch HD video projection system for TV/film and video game scoring applications.

The ambient room sound and concert hall acoustics, coupled with a 9 foot Steinway concert grand piano that is considered one of the east coast’s most revered recording pianos, makes Futura Productions a destination for a wide array of professional recording projects from around the world. Large ensembles are easily accommodated for classical, chamber, TV/film scoring, video game scoring, and big band recordings.

While working as an assistant engineer at Futura Productions, Jesse has had the extraordinary opportunity under the mentorship of John Weston to learn and practice various recording techniques associated with classical, chamber, big band, rock, and various other musical styles. Futura Productions has provided Jesse with experience in recording, editing, and mixing techniques through hands-on application. Assistant duties include: session and microphone setup, cable management, patchbay operations, headphone mix setup, session documentation, outboard equipment operations, microphone striking, and tea boy (client services). Being involved in session work at Futura Productions has proved to be a valuable experience for Jesse. He has acquired knowledge and skills associated with recording large ensembles in an acoustical setting. Working at Futura Productions has further given Jesse direct insight into the inner workings of a high profile professional recording studio.
